From Classroom to Plant: Nigerian Trainees Visit LNG and De-hydrocarbon Facilities, Closing Practice Loop

PCCS caps international training with real operating assets; “What you see is what you get” demonstrates technical confidence

August 3, 2026 – After completing all classroom studies, the first cohort of the “PCCS Natural Gas Project Industrial Technology and Operations Management Training Program” stepped out of Tianjin University and traveled to Langfang for site visits to an LNG plant and a de-hydrocarbon plant. With this, the participants from Nigeria’s NMDPRA and MDGIF completed a full learning loop — from macro theory to core processes, and then to on-site operations. Setting the final stage of training in a real production frontline was a deliberate arrangement by PCCS and the most tangible embodiment of its “capability delivery” philosophy.

At the LNG plant, participants systematically toured the liquefaction unit area, storage tank area, loading/unloading area, and central control room. Faced with operating equipment and pipelines, the liquefaction process principles, storage tank design standards, and loading/unloading procedures taught in the classroom became vividly tangible. PCCS’s on-site engineering team provided full accompaniment and explanations. Using the physical installations, they elaborated on the key operational points for the entire process, from feed gas pre-treatment to liquefaction, storage, and send-out, with special emphasis on daily operational safety protocols and emergency response mechanisms.

Subsequently, the group traveled to the de-hydrocarbon plant, focusing on process units for natural gas liquids (NGL) recovery and component separation. De-hydrocarbon is a key step in upgrading natural gas product quality and enabling the utilization of high-value components. On site, participants showed keen interest in the operating parameters and control methods of core equipment such as the deethanizer, engaging in in-depth discussions with site engineers on specific issues like the impact of feed gas composition changes on operations and product control.

Throughout the entire site visit, the participants demonstrated a high degree of professionalism. They not only diligently noted every technical detail but also frequently cross-referenced and discussed what they observed and the parameters against the classroom theories. This learning state of “arriving with questions and leaving with verification” was itself the best testament to the training’s effectiveness.

For PCCS, being able to open an operating plant to international clients as a teaching site is, in itself, a powerful signal of trust. In just a matter of days, these Nigerian energy officials underwent a systematic and profound capability leap — from building macro-level industrial thinking and learning full-chain technical theories to verifying core processes on site.
